That One Friend

I have acquaintances. Friendships that I have cared for deeply over the years. Friends that I love and cherish today. But I also have that one friend.

You know the one...The one that came into your life and never left. The one that's been there through thick and thin. The one that has seen you at your best and worst. The one that has been there through the tears and tipsy nights. That has been there in all of your biggest memories. The one who has always reminded you of your worth. The one that definitely isn't afraid to tell you the truth. The one that always calls, even when you can't pick up the phone. The one who will always be the cool aunt. The one who, no matter how much time has passed, can always pick up right where you left off. The one that you'll never let go of.

All friendships are different and some only come for certain seasons. But I know for sure that you, Samantha, are someone that I want to keep around for the rest of my life. Thank you for going through the middle school/high school awkward phases with me. Thank you for being there through my parent's divorce, mine and Marc's breakup time, my marriage, my two kids, and everything in-between. Thank you for being you, always. Thank you for being my one.
