Though I'm one who talks A LOT about the importance of acceptance and patience especially when it comes to my faith, I'll be the first to admit that I'm kind of a control freak when it comes to just letting things be. Liking things to go according to plan. I mean who doesn't, right? Because when I don't feel like I have the control, I start feel kind of overwhelmed and stressed. Which of course I know that I'll never be fully in control of everything, but I have found that it is possible to feel like i have things (mostly) together with the help of some organization and routines.
Weekly Planner
Ever since I could use one, planners have been my saviors when it comes to staying on top of everything in my life. I absolutely love have a physical item that I can keep track of my life with and that pushes me to be more consistent. I usually color coordinate my planners according to the bigger tasks of my life: One color for holidays/birthdays, one for preschool activities for Christopher, one for my Bible study, one for all of my blog postings, and one for events. My planner is just from Target.
Cleaning Schedule
With having two kids that are home all the time, I really try to stay on top of my house cleaning. I mean, I'm naturally a person who likes to keep things organized, but I am not the one that likes to clean during the process. Every morning I've made the habit to make my bed, sweep the floors, and Swiffer the floors to start my day off fresh. Throughout the day I try to clean as I cook, wipe up any messes as they happen, and sort any mail. And then at the end of the day, I'll usually clean the kitchen by wiping down the counters and doing the dishes. And then I focus on one part of the house each day for deep cleaning, such as bedrooms on Mondays, bathrooms on Tuesdays, and Laundry on Sundays.
Meal Planning
Now that I cook for more than just my family living with my mom, I kind of feel this level of stress about cooking more often. Plus, I married into a Mexican family, so meals are of top most priority in our days. Which I'm okay at cooking, but never have a clear picture of what I want to make because I'm not very good at making meals up on the spot. Shout out to my in-law family on that one! But ever since I found the Keto diet plan, I try to Pinterest meals, write them down in my recipe books, and schedule my week out every Sunday so that I only grocery shop for that week. I feel like it keeps me on top of my diet plan, hold me accountable to cooking every day, and makes it a lot easier to make when I know exactly what I'm doing. Right now I am using just a regular notebook for my recipes, but I just ordered this recipe book from Etsy.
Brain Dumps
Lastly, I would definitely not be half as organized, if I didn't regularly take a break every day to get all of the thought out of my head into a physical representation on paper. I mean, I can't tell you how many journals I have lying around with sloppy hand writing in it. It really makes my thoughts a lot less overwhelming by actually forcing them out. I use a regular dotted notebook. Which I also have another for my workouts.
