January 2020 Goals

Welcome to the new decade! Even if I don’t succeed at every goal I set, I feel better having written them down.  It keeps me motivated. Especially as a SAHM. If I didn’t set goals every month for myself I’d probably binge watch TV every day and this blog would cease to exist.  I need that extra motivation, ya know?

Review Of How I Did On My December Goals:

- Planning for the next year. Achieved. Since my husband has been off for about a week now due to to the holidays, I was actually able to get a lot of my writing done. And that included my planning. I set some goals long-term and short-term -and included the steps that I want to take to get there.

- Find the perfect planner for 2020. Not achieved. I cannot find exactly what I want for the blog. And planners are something VERY important to me. I don’t want to settle by waiting my money and then it just to end up in the trash or collect dust on my night stand. But I’m holding out hope to find one in this next week.

- Get my exercise life together. Achieved. I am now two pounds heavier, which means 12 pounds away from my target weight, but in December I made up an exercise plan. One that I think is going to be great. Full of things I’m excited to do. Things I can’t wait for. Which is something I’ve never said about exercising before.

- Date night. Achieved. In December we took our Date night kind of early. We drlopped the kids off with my mother-in-law and went to his Army Christmas party. And lets just say it was so good that we were in bed by 10 pm and not because we were tired.

- Donate. Achieved. My kids do not go without, my son especially in the toy department and my daughter in the clothes department. I racked up, cleaned, organized, and donated all of the things that they no longer use. And in the perfect time. They got more than enough for Christmas to replace it all...and then some.

- Decorate the house. Achieved. We got our first Christmas tree (real of course), my mom brought over some of my childhood ornaments, we put up our family ornaments, got a new family ornament, hung up the lights, and even added a few extra decorative pieces (which my husband is usually opposed to - if it was up to him, we would just have a tree, maybe not even that). And we watched it all sparkle for the month.

- Make Christmas Day special for the kids. Achieved We spent all morning opening gifts and then spend the rest of the day drinking hot chocolate, watching Christmas movies, reading Christmas books, and just simply enjoy each other’s company all day long (with no ipad, and wearing Cozy Christmas pjs). Then finishe diff the night at my mom‘s house for dinner, board games, and fun!

- Bake some Christmas cookies. Not Achieved. I’ll be honest, we usually just couldn’t afford it this year. Baking costs a whole lot of money that we just didn’t have this year.

- Play in the snow. Not achieved. I would’ve loved to bundle up the family, build a snowman, make some snow angels, and have a snowball fight. But apparently Thanksgiving and Christmas were mixed up. Because we had no snow! But in November we had a full blown storm.

-Finish the Christmas shopping early. Not achieved - unless you could three days before early. But I sure don’t. This year we decided to not get our kids a lot of toys. First of all, because they have way too many in the first place! Second of all, their grandmas always get them so many. And lastly, we can better save that money to put it towards their upcoming baptisms and first trips to Disneyland. So our shopping was easy, which is why I think we waited for so damn long.

- Do at least 10 Christmas crafts with the kids. Achieved. We did toilet paper roll reindeer, decorated a gingerbread house, made an ornament, made a snow globe, and finger painted.

And Now For January’s Goals:

- Get AnnaLynne back to sleeping through the night EVERY night. After all of this holiday season madness, her schedule has been thrown off to say the least. She’s going to bed a bit later, waking up to feed at night, and fussing more to even be put down to sleep. I am so tired!  Something has to give, so I want to start we re-sleep training her. It’s gonna be hard and a slow process, but I know it will be worth it. - Organize AnnaLynne’s old clothes. As soon as I found out we were having a girl, everyone gave us all of their daughter‘s old clothes. And then when we had my daughter she got new clothes and also got passed down clothes from my niece. As she’s out grown them I’ve kind of just piled it all up into her closet. But this month I want to go through it all. Keep the stuff I’ll want to remember, throw out the stained ones, and sort, fold, and put away by sizes.

- Read 5 new books. I’ve been slacking in the reading department lately. And that makes me really sad. Reading is my comfort zone. The place I go to take a load off and transport to a different world. But I don’t want to be stuck in the same books, so I want to dedicate myself to choosing one book per week to buy, read, and reflect on this month.

I think that’s good for the first month of the year.  I usually like to hit the ground running, but I think this month I’m going to ease into things.

What is one goal you have for January?
