Here we are, the last month of the year. Here’s to a warm and welcoming December! I am slightly freaking out that this year is almost over. Anyone else? December is one of my favorite months of the year. The weather is finally established as cold, the snow begins to fall, and it’s finally the end: the lights are being displayed, we are making holiday plans, we get to drink a ton of hot chocolate, and I don’t know about you - but life just gets nuts! In the best way, of course.
This December is a special one for our family. It is AnnaLynne‘a first Christmas. Shoot, our first Christmas as a family that is complete. And even our first Christmas living on our own. So my hope for this month is: to finish strong, feel every emotion, and to be live and fully present in everything going on our lives (especially with my children). And I hope you do, too.
December Goals:
- Planning for the next year. I really want to sit down and think of some goals and things that I would like to accomplish with the blog. Long-term and short-term. And then establish a general plan as to how I am going to achieve those goals. - Find the perfect planner for 2020. Anyone who knows me, know that I live for organization via my planner. But since I started this blog so late this year, I’ve kind of been living off of sticky notes, a messy notebook, and phone apps to try to organize my life. And let’s just say, I cannot wait to find a good planner to get color coding in!
- Get my exercise life together. I love exercising, but honestly...my motivation to do it has tapered off in the last couple months. I am actually only about 10 pounds away from my target weight. So I just need to come up with an exercise plan that I am going to absolutely love to do, so that I can effective strive to be the best me.
- Date night. With my husband being so busy and money often being tight, it can sometimes be hard for me and the hubby to carve out some time for ourselves. But we have been dedicated to taking time for each other once a month to just focus on each other. - Donate. My kids do not go without, my son especially in the toy department and my daughter in the clothes department. I want to rack up, clean, organize, and donate all of the things that they no longer use. And what more perfect tome to get rid of stuff when you know they’re about to come into things as well? - Decorate the house. Probably one of my absolute favorite things to do during the Christmas season is to decorate. I cannot wait to go out to pick a tree, throw on some lights and ornaments, and watch it sparkle! - Make Christmas Day special for the kids. I know that they’re to young to remember this Christmas, but you’re never to young to start traditions. And I want to do with my kids what my mom did with e as a child. I want us to spend all morning opening gifts and then spend the rest of the day drinking hot chocolate, watching Christmas movies, read Christmas books, and just simply enjoy each other’s company all day long (with no ipad, and wearing Cozy Christmas pjs). - Bake some Christmas cookies. Every year I love to set a day (usually the day before Christmas Eve) to just bake. I’ll be honest, we usually can’t afford to spend money on everyone in the family, but we never want to show up empty handed. So I always make a point to have a big box of cookies set up for each and every family or couple during Christmas.
- Play in the snow. I love everything that the snow brings. Most of all - the kid that it brings out in me and my husband. And now in our son. We love to bundle him up and take him outside to build a snowman, make some art, and have a snowball fight. -Finish the Christmas shopping early. This year we’ve decided to not get our kids a lot of toys. First of all, because they have way too many in the first place! Second of all, their grandmas always get them so many. And lastly, we can better save that money to put it towards their upcoming baptisms and first trips to Disneyland.
- Do at least 10 Christmas crafts with the kids. Whether it be making a reindeer from construction paper, building a gingerbread house, make a popsicle stick tree ornament, making a snow globe, and much much more. I always love to do at least 2 crafts a week with them, especially my son since he gets to enjoy it a little more and gets a little alone time during the process too.
