As we officially hit August and nearing the school year, parents are all feeling all of the emotions right now. If they send their kids to school, they're selfish. If they keep them home, they;re living in fear. And they're choices aren't going to please everyone. But they're also trying not to care, and instead focus on what's right for them, their children, and they're family as a whole.
But some aren't very sure what that even is right now. Because they're just too conflicted. And I'm pretty sure, they're pretty fucking over it. Many have, and will, shed tears when no one is looking. And have to pull themselves together just as quickly.
They just know that they'd do anything for their kids, no matter what the sacrifice may be, but no one signed up for this! So if you hear a parent voice their choice that may be different from your own...please remember to have some grace.
And I'd like to leave you all with a prayer:
Heavenly Father,
I pray that you see how anxious all of these parents are in not knowing what their children's schedule will look like this fall. Having so many questions with very little answers. Their hearts are weary as they crave routine. And know that even those answers could change very fast.
I pray that you comfort them with your love and peace in this time of social distancing, masks, ever-changing rules, turbulent emotions, losses, and so much more.
I pray that while they feel a desire to control the outcome and fill with so much worry about their children, that you help them to surrender their plans and desires to Yours.
I pray that if they begin to panic and fear in the quiet of the night, that you help them to feel Your love and light of You presence.
I pray that You grant them encouragement and hop in this crisis and reassure them that even if routines look a little different right now, their children will still be okay. That they will still be loved by their teachers and staff. That they'll be supported and cared for. And that they will be okay as well.
I pray that when they are tempted to feel despair and doubt, that Your goodness will help them to remember that You have a plan and purpose for their family. Even in times like this with great trial and uncertainty.
I pray that You show Your strength, goodness, and love in their lives today.
I pray that You calm their fears and anxieties.
In Your name we pray, AMEN.
