I make refried beans for sooooo many of my recipes. Its super easy and packed full of flavor.
Ingredients:
Pinto Beans
4 Garlic Cloves
1 Onion (in 1/2)
1/2 Stalk of Celery
1 Tsp of Oregano
1 Tsp of Cumin
1 Tsp of Salt
1 Tsp of Pepper
Lard, oil, or other fat.
Instructions:
Soak your beans in the pot overnight to soften them.
Rinse the beans and add water to cover.
Cook on medium heat with the other ingredients (other than lard) for 3-4 hours.
Once cooked to soft and skin falling off, turn off the heat.
Heat up the lard in a pan. Once hot, add the beans to the pan with enough bean juice to cover the beans.
Once simmering, mash the beans to the texture you like.
*If there is too much water, let it simmer longer to reduce the moisture*
