Refried Beans

I make refried beans for sooooo many of my recipes. Its super easy and packed full of flavor.

Ingredients:

  • Pinto Beans

  • 4 Garlic Cloves

  • 1 Onion (in 1/2)

  • 1/2 Stalk of Celery

  • 1 Tsp of Oregano

  • 1 Tsp of Cumin

  • 1 Tsp of Salt

  • 1 Tsp of Pepper

  • Lard, oil, or other fat.


Instructions:

  1. Soak your beans in the pot overnight to soften them.

  2. Rinse the beans and add water to cover.

  3. Cook on medium heat with the other ingredients (other than lard) for 3-4 hours.

  4. Once cooked to soft and skin falling off, turn off the heat.

  5. Heat up the lard in a pan. Once hot, add the beans to the pan with enough bean juice to cover the beans.

  6. Once simmering, mash the beans to the texture you like.

*If there is too much water, let it simmer longer to reduce the moisture*
