Arms, Hands, and Fingers

Tiny Food Play (5 Minutes)

Materials: Small pieces of food (blueberries, puffs, or cheerios)

Instructions:

1. Place your baby in a seated position, preferably in the high chair.

2. Put something small, but safe, on a plate or the tray.

3. Demonstrate to your baby how the food can move by bouncing it or moving it around.

4. Then let them explore themselves, patting, waving, and grabbing the food.

Tip: Always be present during the activity to make sure they do not put anything in their mouth.


Rainbow Ribbons (2 Minutes)

Materials: Toy to attach ribbon strings to and colorful ribbon Instructions: 1. Cut the ribbon into even pieced long strands and attach them to the toy (knotting securely). 2. Lay your baby down on their back and hold the toy over their head, letting the ribbon dangle above them. 3. Slowly move the toy up and down.

Animal Parade (5 Minutes)

Materials: Animal toys

Instructions:

1. Place your baby on their tummy.

2. Pick up the animals one by one and march it towards them, making animal noises along the way.

3. Once you reach them, allow them to play with it as you move onto the next animal.


Shake, Shake, Shake (5 Minutes)

Materials: Rattle

Instructions:

1. Place your baby on their back.

2. Shake the rattle on one side of them, waiting to see if they will turn to the sound.

3. Repeat on the other side.


Herb Play (15 Minutes)

Materials: Fresh herbs and a shallow tray Instructions: 1. Place a variety of herbs on the tray. 2. Help your baby in a supported sit or onto their tummy, placing the tray in front of them. 3. Let your baby explore the herbs through touch while describing what they are doing. Saying things such as, "Do you smell the rosemary" and "So fresh and earthy!"

Rings (2 Minutes)

Materials: Muffin tin, toilet paper roll, scissors and tape Instructions: 1. Cut the toilet paper roll into 6-8 ring pieces and cover them in the tape to make them more sturdy. 2. Place each ring into the it's own section of the muffin tin. 3. Sit your baby on your lap, placing the tin in front of you. 4. Encourage them to reach for the rings by guiding their hands to them. Tip: Use color duck tape for some extra fun play.
